School Orientation Day in Bafoussam

With the presence of Mr MEVA Pierre (Regional Educational Inspector Orientation and School  Life – West Cameroon), Mr Jean Claude WANKO (Regional Deputy Director   Beneficial Life West – Cameroon), and Oceane Group Founding President,  Mr. Carletto TIAM, we held a school orientation day in West of Cameroon on Friday, August 30 2019 on the theme:  A well-oriented youth for an emerging Cameroon.

The purpose of the meeting, which brought together some 50 young students and professionals, was to inspire, help and encourage young people to take good academic guidance and take action.

Several guidance tools have been given on topics such as how to do a good school orientation? challenges of the professional world, practical advice and many others based on questions that have been asked.

Douala Conference

On Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the conference room of the Rosty restaurant in Déido, we gave a conference – Dinner to young people in the city of Douala, the economic capital of Cameroon on the theme“Dare to undertake even in the midst of economic challenges ». This was led by experts in the fields of leadership, coaching and associated with this, an expert in the business world.

The conference dinner was designed to encourage young people not to give up on their dreams or desires to be entrepreneurs. We have shown in a set of exchanges that it is possible to succeed in an excellent way when you believe in it and when you do it. At the same time, we have encouraged those who have started entrepreneurship but who, at some point, for one reason or another, have given up.

Educational Orientation and Life Support Program

We have proposed to the Secondary Education delegation a strategy to support the counselling service in secondary schools in order to enable students to have a clear orientation before their bachelor’s degrees. The observation is that many students even after their bachelor’s degrees, do not know what they are going to do in higher education; so, most of them make bad choices in the courses of the years and sometimes even in their lives.

On the other hand, knowing that the choice of a school orientation depends on job market opportunities, and needs for society, we focus on the vision of national development as presented in Cameroon. Strategic Employment Growth Document (SEGD).

Production & distribution of a school guidance booklet

Good academic guidance is one of the first keys to success towards professional integration. Young people cannot achieve, fulfill themselves, and innovate by staying in a corridor that is not theirs; or by making a profession in which they have no vocation or even less passion or conviction for.

In addition, several high school students do one, two and sometimes three years before finding a course in which they fare best.  With this in mind, we have set up a 26-page guidance booklet printed on A5-sized paper. This document contains:

  • Advice for the future student on the choice of orientation
  • Advice on sexuality, tobacco, drugs, pernicious associations…
  • Tips for managing his freedom when he is alone in his room;
  • Universities and training schools in Cameroon in all its ten regions
  • The challenge of a direction with positive and negative consequences

tips FOR young people

We provide advice to young people on the concept of career guidance and coaching. These are those who do not have the means to enrol in a training and coaching program organized by  large structures. We also strongly encourage young women entrepreneurs.
